Pilates

Contrology is the name Joseph Pilates gave to his unique body of work we now simply call Pilates. Control(ogy) is much more than just the physical control of your body, it refers to the mind-body connection which is essential to this work.

The way Pilates is taught and practiced can vary from teacher to teacher and from studio to studio. I provide informed and educated instruction to guide and support you, and help you reach your goals. The smallest, most subtle shifts in position, movement, or awareness can make all the difference between “doing” Pilates and experiencing real and profound change in the body and mind. Details matter.

I believe in custom designed programming with an emphasis on healthy movement. By determining exactly what your body needs, you are ensured the safest and most beneficial workout possible. I first focus on helping you build a strong foundation, and then assist you to work deeper, connecting physical movement, to mindful awareness.

What sets Pilates apart from most conventional exercise programs?

    • involves few repetitions, “quality” over “quantity”
    • promotes the mind body connection and awareness
    • is a program or system that offers balanced movement for the entire body
    • improves posture, co-ordination, strength and flexibility
    • skills and awareness acquired from Pilates will transfer to all other movements and activities.
  • creates physical and mental resilience.

Pilates will create wonderful improvements in both body and mind when it is taught and practiced well. Education, comprehensive training and years of experience matter, and this is what I offer you.

If you are ready to reduce pain and restriction, improve your everyday movement and sports specific activities, I can help. You will feel the difference in both body and mind.
